DBSK Lawsuit! HWAITING!

How I wish I could be on THAT legal team! Still keeping up with things going on in J and K world and here's the latest update from koreantimes!

MAJOR SUPPORT FROM CASSIOPEIA!

More than 120,000 fans of the K-pop idol group TVXQ, which is embroiled in legal battle against its agency, filed a collective petition with the human rights agency on Friday, judging a working contract made between three members of the group and their agency to be “unfair” and “inhumane.”

Three representatives of the fans visited the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) in Seoul and submitted the petition and a bulky package of papers with their signatures of support.

They said in a statement, “The contract banning TVXQ members from changing their agency for 13 years since their debut is the same as a life-long working contract, which is extremely disadvantageous to the singers.”

They claimed the period is far longer than that of other agencies. “Singers have the right to change their agency to one offering better conditions. Under the contract, however, they have no choice but to work with the present agency virtually until they retire. This is an infringement of human rights,” the statement said.

A NHRC spokesman told The Korea Times, “It will take at least three months to the complete investigation of the case.”

The controversy over the five-member group’s working contract touched off early this month after three of its members ― Micky, Xiah and Hero ― asked the Seoul Administrative Court to terminate the validity of their contract with their agency, SM Entertainment. The other two members, Max and U-Know, did not take part in the action.

According to the legal document filed, the agency prohibited their freedom as artists by claiming that the group’s and members’ activities belonged to the agency, requiring them to follow the agency’s demands to appear at certain performances and broadcasts, and to stay under the agency’s wing for 13 years.

Reports of dissension started circulating about a month ago.

The three members were said to have conflicting interests with SM regarding their private business endeavors in the makeup industry. Max and U-Know, meanwhile, had been busy pursuing individual acting careers in TV soaps in addition to their work with the group.

This raised concern among fans about the group’s potential breakup. Despite the rumor of internal conflicts, the five singers appeared all together, as planned, at a concern in Japan early this month.

SM said, “TVXQ is a group that represents Asia and we believe that their career should continue. We hope to figure things out soon.”

TVXQ debuted in 2004 with the album “Hug” and shot to stardom in Korea, Japan and other parts of Asia. Their subsequent albums were well received and their fourth album, “Mirotic,” released last year, sold 500,000 copies here despite sluggishness in the Korean record market.

Note to SM, never pick a fight with Korean fans. With a huge ass lawsuit hanging over SM's head, fans have now SHOVED  human rights violation claim against SM!

Your move. *sinister grin*

Embarassing! Really embarassing! Section 23 'residents' "march" (?!)

Received a Tweet from Yaya this afternoon about the bullshit that's going on in Shah Alam.

Read HERE @ The Malaysian Insider.

Edit: Watch it HERE.

Edit: The video is ridiculous. I cannot believe that these people are not yet locked up in a school somewhere. Why issit that when one disagrees, it cannot be brought to a table for proper civilised negotiation? Instead of marching through the streets, insulting a lot of people right, front, left and centre, to make a point(?) (which by the way has no basis is logic watsoever).

Bodo punya manusia. I am ashamed that these people are Malaysians.

Now, here I wonder where these people were educated. If they claim to be the Muslims they are, they should be welcoming people of different races and different religions to live together. Isn't that what happened during the Hijrah? People from Mecca went to Madinah to live and at that time, not EVERYONE in Madinah were Muslims. (=_=)" Of course there were problems here and there, but they were resovled in a civilised manner. Now, if people can live like that 1400 years ago, why have these people from Section 23 Shah Alam devolved into idiots with no brains? (^_^)'

"The "residents" said that the construction of a Hindu temple in a 90 per cent Malay- Muslim neighbourhood was insensitive because activities there would disrupt their lives.

They claimed that the "noise" from the temple would disturb their own praying, and that they would not be able to function properly as Muslims."

Now that is plain bullshit. If these 'Muslims' use these kinds of comments, then well, who isn't to say that our Azan that goes off 5 times a day, one at the break of dawn, is not "noise" that disrupts other people's praying/sleeping/bla bla bla that they have to do during those times.

What is soooo wrong about having a Hindu temple in a 90% majority Muslim community? And since when is the Muslim and Malay spirit has anything to do with secluding ourselves from the rest of the world, from difference, from acceptance, from diversity? If anything, it could be a good thing! The Malay-Muslims would be able to see and experience things that they normally won't go out of their way to, like witnessing Hindu rituals and prayers and vice versa.

"With a temple on our residential area, we cannot function properly as Muslims. The temple will disrupt our daily activities like prayers in the Surau. We cannot concentrate with the sounds coming from the temple," stated Zurit.

And to argue a case like this by using things like "one will not be able to concentrate whilst praying" is plainly unacceptable! Concentration whilst praying or khusyu' is not something one can automatically get if the surrounding is quiet. Sure it helps, but to equate external noises with not being able to concentrate whilst praying is idiotic. What about what you're thinking whilst praying? Who is to argue that you're not thinking about what to have for buka or when is the next time you can go to the driving range or what to get at the next sale?

When asked whether members of the protest were affiliated with any organisations or movements, Ibrahim claimed that the people present today were members of PAS, PKR as well as Umno who are "united in the name of Islam and the Malay spirit."

To say that the protest is in the "united name of Islam and the Malay spirit" is an insult to the rest of us thinking, practicing Muslims and Malays. Not everyone is against progress and understanding one another.

I think that by protesting against the building of the temple is an insult to Muslims and Malays if I were to speak in Mohd. Zurit Bin Ramli's language. By protesting, the 'residents' of Section 23 are saying that Muslims and Malays alike will not be able to perform their prayers or live in harmony IF there are other factors that come into play. Other factors by that I do mean, people of a different race and religion, difference and not conforming to the backward ways of thinking and just not accepting different people.

I think people should give Malays and Muslims some credit. Not everyone is your typical (?) media described Malay or Muslim - if anything, it would be a small, tiny, miniscule group of the population who make to much noise. Empty cans, people. Empty cans. (^_^)v Most of us, practicing Muslims and Malays are open and not afraid of change. In fact, we welcome it. Why should we be stuck in ways that are no longer of use?

One should NEVER be a Muslim or a Malay who follows blindly what other people say. Question and think, but don't forget to ask for guidance. Ijtihad, boys and girls. The word is Ijtihad. :)

And to threaten bloodshed because someone doesn't wanna share some space with another Malaysian, well that's just plain childish.

Thank you 'residents' of Section 23 Shah Alam. Once again, you've made our trudge to proper racial intergration and progess a little bit harder than before. (=_=)" It's Ramadhan and this is what you come up with? Iman takder?

I am a Muslim. I am a Malay. And I wear that identity proudly and with dignity.

Grow a brain and go to Sekolah Agama pls. I did. And it obviously did me some good. At least I know when to SHARE! Hmph.

Jude "Hamlet" Law

Those who have listened to me whine about Hamlet during my A-Level years would know that I think Hamlet is a complete idiot who cannot decide anything for himself - that he needs to talk himself into avenging his father's death throughout the whole 3 hours of the bloody play before the slaughter of the royal family in the last 5 minutes of the tragedy; that he is a coward compared to Laertes who is more decisive and over-complicates things unlike the ever calm observing Horatio.

Secondly, I've never really been a fan of Jude Law. Because of his movies. Nothing really interested me, and some where quite bad - and the one that I actually liked, well - he was only narrating. He has a nice voice tho.

So, I was prepared to accept the reality that there would be a possibility that I would not enjoy Hamlet because of that fundamental character trait that I cannot get over. =_="
Even though, we waited 8 hours through the night for tickets. (We got brilliant seats tho!)

[beginning of the wait]

I am VERY HAPPY to say that I did enjoy the show and that Mr. Law put on a very good show as Hamlet! I normally find myself becoming fed-up with Hamlet's character (esp. the one played by Kenneth Brannagh!) and feeling happy when Laertes cuts him with his sword - but this time, I felt, sorry for Hamlet. He was more of a childish character - one I could see why the people of Denmark loved him. He was intelligent and witty and though it surprises me to say this, loveable and pitiful.

[after the show @ stage door]

Claudius, I liked a lot! Because he seemed to be a more modern/political King rather than an normal old knivving weasel who married his brother's widow.

Polonius is thin! I thought he would be round! But I liked.

I didn't quite feel comfortable with Horatio - he was too panicky and I thought he was supposed to be the calm observer of the tragedy in the making.

[fans waiting for Jude Law]

So yesh. I'm happy I got to see Hamlet on its very last day of production!

[Mr. Law!]

And though I am looking forward to him as Dr. Watson - at the moment, I think Mr. Law should remain on stage, he's soo much better in theatre anyway! Apparently Robert Downey Jr was watching the show too! I dunno how he ninja-ed his way in - no one made a fuss that he was there!

[He was nice to sign all the programmes and posters shoved his way! We got ours signed too! Bug even got her poster signed!]

Next thing to look forward to? Jacob Black in New Moon! ;)

[the last show's goodbye!]

The 12 most annoying types of Facebookers

I have a routine on FB. Check my inbox, get through the notifications, and requests and reminders then hiding quizzes from my feed, then hiding the people who do too many quizzes from my feed. (^_^);

Then Vic sent me a link on CNN about the 12 most annoying types of FB users. I think all of us have some of the traits in these - like stalking people, I mean, looking at new photos on FB when we're bored, or reading what people share on FB, or commenting real time during football matches - which normally get people to spew hate comments/mail to each other~

This is awesome! Want to know whether you're an annoying FB-er? (^_^)v I think I might be a Crank or a Paparazzo~ Slightly only ne~ Heh~

------------------------------

By Brandon Griggs
CNN

(CNN) -- Facebook, for better or worse, is like being at a big party with all your friends, family, acquaintances and co-workers.

Facebook can be a great tool, and an occasional annoyance. What kind of Facebooker are you?

There are lots of fun, interesting people you're happy to talk to when they stroll up. Then there are the other people, the ones who make you cringe when you see them coming. This article is about those people.

Sure, Facebook can be a great tool for keeping up with folks who are important to you. Take the status update, the 160-character message that users post in response to the question, "What's on your mind?" An artful, witty or newsy status update is a pleasure -- a real-time, tiny window into a friend's life.

But far more posts read like navel-gazing diary entries, or worse, spam. A recent study categorized 40 percent of Twitter tweets as "pointless babble," and it wouldn't be surprising if updates on Facebook, still a fast-growing social network, break down in a similar way.

Combine dull status updates with shameless self-promoters, "friend-padders" and that friend of a friend who sends you quizzes every day, and Facebook becomes a daily reminder of why some people can get on your nerves.

Here are 12 of the most annoying types of Facebook users:

(=_=)" The Let-Me-Tell-You-Every-Detail-of-My-Day Bore. "I'm waking up." "I had Wheaties for breakfast." "I'm bored at work." "I'm stuck in traffic." You're kidding! How fascinating! No moment is too mundane for some people to broadcast unsolicited to the world. Just because you have 432 Facebook friends doesn't mean we all want to know when you're waiting for the bus.

(~_~)* The Self-Promoter. OK, so we've probably all posted at least once about some achievement. And sure, maybe your friends really do want to read the fascinating article you wrote about beet farming. But when almost EVERY update is a link to your blog, your poetry reading, your 10k results or your art show, you sound like a bragger or a self-centered careerist.

(-_~) The Friend-Padder. The average Facebook user has 120 friends on the site. Schmoozers and social butterflies -- you know, the ones who make lifelong pals on the subway -- might reasonably have 300 or 400. But 1,000 "friends?" Unless you're George Clooney or just won the lottery, no one has that many. That's just showing off.

(>o<)" The Town Crier. "Michael Jackson is dead!!!" You heard it from me first! Me, and the 213,000 other people who all saw it on TMZ. These Matt Drudge wannabes are the reason many of us learn of breaking news not from TV or news sites but from online social networks. In their rush to trumpet the news, these people also spread rumors, half-truths and innuendo. No, Jeff Goldblum did not plunge to his death from a New Zealand cliff.

(>.<)" The TMIer. "Brad is heading to Walgreens to buy something for these pesky hemorrhoids." Boundaries of privacy and decorum don't seem to exist for these too-much-information updaters, who unabashedly offer up details about their sex lives, marital troubles and bodily functions. Thanks for sharing.

(^_^)" The Bad Grammarian. "So sad about Fara Fauset but Im so gladd its friday yippe". Yes, I know the punctuation rules are different in the digital world. And, no, no one likes a spelling-Nazi schoolmarm. But you sound like a moron.

(^_~)" The Sympathy-Baiter. "Barbara is feeling sad today." "Man, am I glad that's over." "Jim could really use some good news about now." Like anglers hunting for fish, these sad sacks cast out their hooks -- baited with vague tales of woe -- in the hopes of landing concerned responses. Genuine bad news is one thing, but these manipulative posts are just pleas for attention.

(~o~)! The Lurker. The Peeping Toms of Facebook, these voyeurs are too cautious, or maybe too lazy, to update their status or write on your wall. But once in a while, you'll be talking to them and they'll mention something you posted, so you know they're on your page, hiding in the shadows. It's just a little creepy.

(-_-)* The Crank. These curmudgeons, like the trolls who spew hate in blog comments, never met something they couldn't complain about. "Carl isn't really that impressed with idiots who don't realize how idiotic they are." [Actual status update.] Keep spreading the love.

(^_^); The Paparazzo. Ever visit your Facebook page and discover that someone's posted a photo of you from last weekend's party -- a photo you didn't authorize and haven't even seen? You'd really rather not have to explain to your mom why you were leering like a drunken hyena and French-kissing a bottle of Jagermeister.

(@_@) The Maddening Obscurist. "If not now then when?" "You'll see..." "Grist for the mill." "John is, small world." "Dave thought he was immune, but no. No, he is not." [Actual status updates, all.] Sorry, but you're not being mysterious -- just nonsensical.

(*_*)" The Chronic Inviter. "Support my cause. Sign my petition. Play Mafia Wars with me. Which 'Star Trek' character are you? Here are the 'Top 5 cars I have personally owned.' Here are '25 Things About Me.' Here's a drink. What drink are you? We're related! I took the 'What President Are You?' quiz and found out I'm Millard Fillmore! What president are you?" You probably mean well, but stop. Just stop. I don't care what president I am -- can't we simply be friends? Now excuse me while I go post the link to this story on my Facebook page.

-----------------------------
So... which one are YOU?

Blog Awards! : Jdrama 50 - 41

To start off our Top 50 Jdramas!

Top 50 - 41

#50: Liar Game

Plot:
Nao Kanzaki, an honest college student, receives 100 million yen (about $1,000,000) and an invitation to participate in something called the "Liar Game Tournament". When Nao is easily tricked by her opponent, she turns to ex-convict and genius swindler Shinichi Akiyama for help out of desperation to get the money back. Though Akiyama is reluctant, he agrees to help on the condition that they steal Fujisawa's money as well, and that he takes half the profits as his reward.

Akiyama succeeds in taking all the money and winning the game for Nao. However, Nao and Akiyama's success at the Liar Game is far from over and each time they think the game is over, they are forced to return again with higher stakes. Though initially unwilling participants, the pair choose to continue in the game in order to discover the true nature of the organization involved and to try to free other participants from the Liar Game.

Why #50: Though I like the plot and the idea behind the whole story, Toda Erika and the other woman who's always hanging around annoys me. I didn't get them. I understood them, but I was annoyed nontheless. And there's a dude who I think over acted his part~

----------------------

#49: Lunch no Joou (Lunch Queen)

Plot: Natsumi loves lunch. By chance she starts working for "Kitchen Macaroni", posing as the fiance of the owner's eldest son, Kenichiro. Kenichiro's father Kenzo and his three younger brothers - Yujiro, Junzaburo, and Koshiro - run the restaurant, famous for its omelet. Also working at the restaurant are Mamoru, a chef, and Minoru, a live-in apprentice cook. Not everyone has a liking to Natsumi at first, but over time they will surely fall in love with her...

Why #49: I loved the FOOD and watching Natsumi's face of sheer happiness when she east her omurice! Cute Yamapi all awkward and skinny! Yamada Takayuki as a chef! (^_^)v

-------------------

#48: Kimi wa Petto (You are a Pet)

Plot: Smart, successful and good-looking Iwaya Sumire works for a big newspaper. However, her boss asks her to leave for being too "perfect" a woman. Feeling angry and dejected Iwaya returns home depressed, and most of all lonely. However, when she finds an unconscious young man lying in a box out the front of her home and takes him in. He looks like a dog she used to own called Momo. She dubs him Momo and decides to "keep him as a pet." It's the start of an unexpected life together as they overcome obstacles and become quite attached to one another. But can love like this exist?

Why #48: The idea of having a boy as a pet confuses me. It shouldn't be okay. But if he was like MatsuJun's character in this, then I honestly think I wouldn't mind!

-------------------

#47: Kisarazu Cat's Eye

Plot: Twenty-one year old former high school baseball player, Kohei (nickname: Bussan), learns that he is dying from cancer. He is told that he only has six months to live, and decides that he wants to do something daring and risky. He proposes to five trusted members from his former baseball club that they form a ring of cat burglars that would steal from those who commit crimes. His friends think it odd, but feel they cannot turn down a dying man's request. With only six months, how much could they do anyway?

Why #47: Strong bonds of friendship disguised as crack! Sho is too cute to ignore in this one!

-----------------

#45: Ace wo Nerae (Aim for the Ace)

Plot: Hiromi Oka decides to join the high school tennis club from the moment she saw the star player Reika's (Matsumoto) excellent and smashing play. However, once the tennis lesson began, Hiromi finds herself bored in the succession of simple practice swings. One day, Munakata becomes appointed as the new head coach of the tennis team. His special training was nothing but original, extreme, and severe. In addition, he suddenly chose Hiromi, a tennis beginner, to be the member of the up coming tennis tournament Not only Hiromi, but also her teammates become confused and take the odd situation unfair. Jealousy of her friends and teammates mounted, and they started to talk behind her back. Finally, Hiromi decides to leave the team and run away from the uncomfortable reality, but the coach strongly refused. Instead, he gave her an even more severe and personalized training.

Why #46: I dunno. I honestly dunno why drew me to this. I think I like sports dramas. Because there's just so many life philosophies that on can spot from these sort of dramas.

--------------------

#45: Ganbatte Ikimasshoi! (Let's Do Our Best!)

Plot: Suzuki Anne plays Etsuko Shinomura, a girl who wants to start a girl's crew team at her school. However, in order to do so she needs to find at least 4 other members. She is met with many challenges during each episode - ie. finding enough members, bearing the weight of being captain, going through training, and experiencing some setbacks. However, with the help of her coach, childhood friend (Nishikido Ryo), and the rest of the boy's rowing team, she and the rest of her team are able to overcome those obstacles. A sports drama about hope, hard work, and perseverance.

Why #45: I like sports dramas! And this had an added bonus! Ryo-chan! It would have been higher if not for Suzuki Anne, don't really like her. And I think she overacts her parts - ever since I first saw her on Kindaichi with MatsuJun. But yes. She annoyed me. And I think the girl who plays Dakko (Hibari-sama in HanaKimi) cannot act.

------------------

#44: Konkatsu! (Marriage Hunt)

Plot: Amamiya Kuniyuki is the unemployed son of a tonkatsu restaurant owner. He finds a job that requires a married person, so he lies by saying that he has plans to marry, and he is forced to keep up the charade using Hida Haruno, a part-time worker from the restaurant. The relationship between the two is the key of this romantic comedy, though the series also focuses on family and friendship through Nakai's interactions with the other characters.

Why #44: I honestly started watching this because of Ueda Tatsuya! And I didn't think I would actually like it! I dunno what made me change my mind, it could have been Amamiya's awkward character, Haruno's adorable nature or Shigeru's 10000 watt smile - but it did it!

------------------

#43: Sapuri (Supply)

Plot: Based on a popular manga, Minami is a single 28-year-old office worker in an advertising office. She's very work-oriented and her love is doubted by her boyfriend. One day, she meets Yuya, who is a part-time worker at her company.

Why #43: YUYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA is adorkable! And it would have been higher if not for Ito Misaki. Good for her that she gets the same kind of characters again and again, if not I doubt she would get a lot of acting jobs. She's pretty tho. Jin had to be jealous. Sorry. Sudden fangirling~

-----------------

#42: Summer Snow

Plot: A love story between a young man who has been forced to grow up too quickly, and a young woman with an ailment that has placed restrictions on her life. Natsuo has been looking after his younger brother and sister since the death of their parents. He has also been running the family bicycle shop. Yuki becomes the only person in the world in whom he can confide. For Yuki, Natsuo becomes the catalyst that has her trying to break out of her cocoon.

Why #42: I thot casting was incredible! Oguri Shun was amazing playing a hearing impaired person and Tsuyoshi played the balance between a father, brother and boyfriend ever so perfectly. It made me cry. So many times.

----------------------

#41: Proposal Daisakusen (Operation LOVE!)

Plot: Iwase Ken and Yoshida Rei have been friends since elementary school. Ken, is obstinate and unskilled in love, but he fell long ago for the lively and cheerful, Rei. But Rei is about to get married to another man. While Ken and other friends from high-school attend the wedding ceremony, a fairy appears and sends Ken back in time, giving him a second chance to win the girl he loves.

Why #41: PI'S 'HALELUJAH CHANCE!' is cuteeee! And Iwase Ken seems like the real Yamapi. Not a fan of Nagasawa Masami tho. But I like the plot. I suppose it reminds us to grab it while we have the chance! And not all of us can go back in time to win our loved ones second time around.

---------------

And there you have it. Dramas from number 50 - 41! I must say that these are all based on my preference and does not follow or influence any offical rating system around~ Plot summary from DramaWiki!

Blog Awards!

Ever since Syazeleen listed down her top 50 Japanese dramas, I've been wanting to put mine up too! So I listed everything down and organized it on a separate list and then list down my top 50!

Tho, my top 50 is from the ones I can remember watching - which means they're the ones I've been watching since 2006 up until now.

And it's obviously subject to change due to brilliant summer 2009 dramas! (^_^)v

I'll start tomorrow bright and early(?)-ish with links and stuff! Oohhhh. It's true, I'd do ANYTHING to procrastinate!

Good night~

Need paracetamol~ Stupid nose won't stop running~ =_="

We Will Wok You! \(^o^)/

Ah ah ah-CHOO! Ugh~ Last night I came down with the sniffles and had a slight slight headache, and now I'm freaking out wondering whether I'll be quarantined once I get back home anot!

Argh! Stupid cold, now kenot go gym. Or maybe I should go to the gym to get rid of the cold? Maybe it's the heat and the cold air at night~ Ah ah~

But wtv!

Some of the girlies and I have put together a food blog! Jade went on this restaurant crawl sometime ago and dragged me all over London to stuff my over-filled (and sadly noticable) belly!

We thought, we might as well la! There are 4 of us contributing to this blog:

Sush (>.0 - for proper and amazing restaurants that one is always amazed why she hasn't gone pro, Jade (~_~) - for all you people who insist on even having your butter made from scratch, Mars (^o^) - for when one is lazy to go get things from the supermarket or when one needs to clear the fridge and Vic (@_@) - for strange and sudden midnight cravings that may or may not be good for the heart, soul and waistline.

Tho, Vic has strangely decided to review bad food. Sometimes I just don't understand that La Mok~ :)

But yesh~ When and if you have time, do do drop by!

New Chapters

I am really excited about this project that we have under plan! And if things go according to plan, then, YEAY! (^_^)v Lets take over the world!

Secondly, a few foodies will be getting together to talk about what we all love! More food! Inspired by a recent food crawl in London - 'twas truly a crawl as I did crawl back home after all that food.

And! From this post on, I will organize this blog with tags! If I can figure out how to use them!

Need to start with Unit 3! (T_T) Ahh~ The work! But apa2 la! Dah buat dah kan?! (^_^) がんばります!

Great Friends.

I have great friends. Like seriously. I do. And my great friends tend to do things that make me feel lucky that I have them as part of my life.

I dont think I have really been involved in major fundraising events - whereas some of my friends have done things like the Morocco hitch (something my parents are not too keen about - I think its the whole getting into a strangers car thing but oh well~) and now one of my dear friends is helping children and adults alike in Tanzania the joys of what we, the people of the IT era, take for granted - the computer!

Pravs is rwking Tanzania people! So help him help other people out~

It's good for your karma ;)

Translation:

HOLD THAT WEDDING!

Marisa!
Is this okay?! You're going to get married to ChangMin?!
I know how you really feel about all of this!

I want you to remember about that time when we made bracelets by the sea!

I know that this is mixed up!
And that this is also inexcusable to ChangMin!
But I can't endure this kind of feeling!

Marisa...
I really love you. Let's get happily married! Let's head to that happiness (bouquet)! And then, let's build a happy family together!

JunSu.
